Using GMail as a gateway to send/receive your pop email account. This will allow you to use Gmail to receive all your Computer Solutions or other standard POP Email and also send mail as if it was coming from your original Pop Account so that is what people will see.

1) Create a GMail account if you don't already have one by going to www.gmail.com and clicking on CREATE AN ACCOUNT. 2) Once your new account is created:    A) If this is for a Computer Solutions hosted email account, contact us and we can setup        your email to now forward to your new GMail account as this is the best method. Then you        can continue to Step 3.    B) If you are pulling mail in from some other email account:        a) In Gmail Click the Gear in the top right then Settings        b) Click on ACCOUNTS and IMPORT        c) Under "Check mail from other accounts" click "Add a POP3 mail account you own"        d) Answer the questions to add your account. To Make email you sent appear as from your original account so people wont see it as a Google Email Account: 3) Click on the Gear in the top right then click SETTINGS 4) Click on ACCOUNTS and IMPORT at the top 5) Under the SEND MAIL AS section click on ADD ANOTHER EMAIL ADDRESS YOU OWN 6) In the pop up box enter your name as you want it to appear and enter the email address and click NEXT STEP 7) Choose SEND THROUGH GMAIL and click NEXT STEP 8) Click SEND VERIFICATION 9) Go to your existing email account and get the email just send to you. It will contain a verification code. Enter that code into the verification code box and click VERIFY   OR  you can click the link in the email to verify your account. 10) If you were brought back to your main GMail page, click the Gear then SETTINGS then ACCOUNTS AND IMPORT again to get back to the accounts page. 11) To the Right of the account you just added, click MAKE DEFAULT. 12) Check that below the accounts where it says When replying to a message:  you check the option that says Always reply from default address. Now you can log into GMail to send receive email.  Most people will only see your original business email address and not the GMail account although some systems display it is johndoe@companya.com via Gmail. This is unavoidable but the 10 gigs of storage and easy of use, and excellent spam filtering makes GMail very useful. Important: If you previously used webmail to check your mail, converting the account to an alias will delete all your old email. Its recommend you setup Outlook or some other email program to download all your emails first.  If you start using GMail and continue to leave your account as a POP Mail account it will eventually fill up and generate errors to people sending you mail, so its important to backup your email and change your account to an Alias. While we use this method often for people who need larger email storage or simply prefer the GMail interface it is not supported by Computer Solutions nor do we provide help or support for GMail, Google or any of Google's services.
