I can not access the internet from my Home or Office PC
1) Reboot
2) Check the Network Cables
-There will be one from the modem to the computer
-If you have a router box, there will be one from the modem to the router and one from the router to the computer
3) Are the correct light and power on the modem lit? There are usually multiple light that must be one showing there is a good connection
-If the lights are not on properly, contact your DSL or CABLE internet provider as the problem is on their end or with their equiptment
If everthing above seems ok then...
1) click START then RUN then type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press ENTER
2) At the dos prompt type "ipconfig /all (space after ipconfig but no space after the /)
3) You will see an IP ADDRESS, if this number starts with 169.x.x.x then your computer is not connecting to your modem
4) If you see a different number such as 192.x.x.x. or 10.x.x.x and your still can not connect to the internet then you may have software such as Nortons Antivirus/Firewall running that is blocking your connection or there are other problems with your PC and a service call may be required
